The Regional Police Services Board in the Regional Municipality of York undertook to install a point-to-point microwave communications system to link its several divisions. One of the antennas was mounted on a water tower in the town of Aurora. Concerns about exposure to microwave radiation were expressed by water department personnel and outside contractors involved in the maintenance of the exterior of the water tower.
RHSC provided a third-party analysis of the engineering data associated with the communications system and put anticipated possible exposures in context with exposure situations normally encountered by many people day-to-day at home and at work.
